How Often Does My Child Need Pediatric Care?
As a parent, you may wonder how often your child needs pediatric care appointments. Having an infant or toddler, your child should have frequent well-child visits to monitor their health and ensure that they are reaching the expected milestones of every stage of development.
Since your baby is born, you will need to begin the schedule of newborn pediatric care, until they are 12 months old. After this, well-child visits need to take place following a specific period of time. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recommends 7 well-child visits between the ages of 1 and 4, in the following months:
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
- 30 months
- 3 years
- 4 years
After four years of age, it’s recommended that children visit the pediatrician for an annual check-up.
